Tips for a Great Apple Picking Experience
Find A Local Apple Orchard
Research apple orchards in your area to find one that best suits your preferences. Varieties, availability, hours and visitor guidance can vary.
Here at Orchard Home Farm our focus is on growing the highest quality apples and pears and providing you with the best locally grown and sourced food products including fresh pressed and sparkling apple cider (non-alcoholic), honey, maple syrup, preserves, squash, pumpkins and other autumn harvest favourites.
Grab a Group or Visit Solo
Whether you're planning to come with a group or embarking on a solo visit there are some things to consider:
Peak times for apple picking on the weekends are between 11:00am and 4:00pm. Arriving early or coming later in the day can help avoid the crowds.
Weekdays also present an option, when families, friends and solo visitors can usually find a quiet corner of the orchard to themselves.
Check the Weather
It's always best to be prepared for the weather before you set out on your apple picking adventure.
Sunny days mean pack your sunnies, grab your sunscreen, a hat and some water to keep you hydrated.
Rainy days call for rubber boots and rain coats because farmers fields and orchards can get muddy.
And don't forget your camera, memories are made here!
